CVE-2024-20359Cisco firewalls — an implant that survives the reboot

A legacy preload path in Cisco's firewall software (ASA and FTD) reads a file from flash storage without validating it, so an administrator can plant code that runs after the next reload and persists across reboots. Espionage crews used it.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Install the fixed release named in the Cisco advisory, then inspect device flash for files nobody put there — the campaign that used this left an implant that outlives a reload.
