CVE-2023-36584Windows — the origin marking weakened, not removed

A crafted file weakens the Mark of the Web, the tag that tells Windows the file came from somewhere else. Microsoft describes the result as a limited loss of integrity and availability for the checks that rely on that tag.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Install the October 2023 Windows update. Until it is in place, a file from outside may arrive without the origin tag that would make Windows treat it carefully.
