CVE-2020-3259Cisco firewalls — device memory returned to a stranger

A buffer tracking mistake in the web services interface of Cisco's firewall software (ASA and FTD) hands pieces of device memory back to an unauthenticated request. Only certain remote-access configurations are affected; ransomware crews have used it.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Install the fixed release from the Cisco advisory, then rotate credentials and session material that could have been sitting in device memory while the interface was exposed.
