CVE-2015-5287Red Hat Automatic Bug Reporting Tool — Symlink Privilege Escalation

The abrt-hook-ccpp helper in Automatic Bug Reporting Tool before 2.7.1 writes a core dump to a predictably named file without checking for symbolic links, so a local user with certain permissions can redirect that write and gain higher privileges.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Update Automatic Bug Reporting Tool to 2.7.1 or the vendor's fixed package, or remove it from end-of-life hosts; audit /var/tmp/abrt and /var/spool/abrt for planted symlinks.
