CVE-2015-3246Red Hat libuser — Race Condition Corrupting /etc/passwd

The libuser library, used by the userhelper tool, edits /etc/passwd directly. A local user who triggers an error mid-edit leaves the file in a broken state, denying service; chained with CVE-2015-3245 it can be used to gain privileges.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Update libuser to 0.56.13-8 / 0.60-7 or later via the Red Hat errata, and apply the vendor mitigation on hosts you cannot patch yet.
