CVE-2008-4250Windows Server service — MS08-067 remote code execution

The Server service in Windows 2000 through Server 2008 overflows a buffer while canonicalising a path in a remote procedure call (RPC) request, letting an unauthenticated attacker on the network run code as the system. Worms have used it since 2008.

YOUR NEXT MOVE

Retire or isolate any host still running these Windows versions — the fix is the 2008 MS08-067 update, and every affected release is long out of support.
